This Sunday we began our journey through the season of Passiontide. Two weeks in which we reflect especially on the place of the cross, look again at what happened when Jesus was crucified and try to comprehend the impact of those events on our own lives today.
Passion Sunday has also been the day when, for many years, the County of South Yorkshire have gathered with those who work in our legal institutions to pray for all those who support and administer justice. The Dean, Precentor and Canon Missioner all attended this year's legal service in Doncaster Minster.
At one level it may seem an odd thing to be doing, holding these two themes together. Yet it reminds us that at the heart of our judicial system, as in many of our institutions, there is a place for understanding grace, love and redemption. Each of which were revealed in their fullest sense at the crucifixion of Jesus.
