Good news, Sheffield… it’s time to get your camera roll ready and your dogs even cuter than usual (if that’s even possible).
#StrikeAPaws is back at Sheffield Cathedral, and we’re once again on the hunt for 12 four-legged superstars to feature in our 2027 Dog Calendar.
After last year’s competition stole hearts across the city (and filled the Cathedral with wagging tails, big personalities and very good boys and girls), we’re bringing it back for round two - and this year, it’s even bigger, more playful, and packed with personality. The 2026 calendar proved just how popular our canine stars are, selling out completely as people snapped up their favourite furry faces.
If you joined us last time, you’ll remember just how special it was. From tiny pups to wise old companions, Sheffield’s dogs truly delivered - and we’ve left a little space below to revisit some of our 2026 stars.
At its heart, #StrikeAPaws is all about celebrating what makes Sheffield special - community, creativity, and being a city that absolutely loves its dogs. At Sheffield Cathedral, that welcome extends to everyone, including our four-legged visitors. Being proudly dog-friendly is part of who we are, and this competition is a joyful way of bringing that to life.
It’s not just the Cathedral flying the flag for dog-friendly Sheffield either. Following the huge success of last year’s trial, South Yorkshire Supertram now allows dogs on trams - making it easier than ever to bring your pup along and get involved (and yes, there’s even a tram pass up for grabs if your dog makes the final cut).
This year’s competition runs from 14–22 June, with multiple ways to enter — including the return of our much-loved Strike A Paws Selfie Frame, which will be making an appearance outside the Cathedral on the forecourt from 18–20 June.
And this isn’t just any photo opportunity. We’re turning things up a notch for 2027 with props and fancy dress for both dogs and their humans - whether you’re going full glamour, full chaos, or somewhere in between. The fun doesn’t stop at the selfie frame either… if your dog is selected as one of our 12 winners, the professional photoshoot inside the Cathedral will also feature props and outfits, meaning even more iconic looks for the final calendar. We’re also giving the calendar itself a fresh new look this year, so it’s all set to be bigger and better than ever.
As always, the prizes are worth getting excited about. Our winning dogs will receive a professional photoshoot inside the Cathedral, a copy of the 2027 calendar starring them, digital photographs to treasure, a doggy bag of treats, a Supertram travel pass, and even tickets to a concert at Sheffield Cathedral - not bad for a quick pose and a wag of the tail.
So whether your dog is effortlessly photogenic, completely chaotic, or just your favourite walking companion, we want to see them. From every corner of the city and beyond, dogs far and wide across Sheffield are invited to take part.
