Support Team Sheffield on Their Camino for Homelessness Charities

In March 2026, Dean Abi Thompson, Director of Music Tom Daggett, and a team of Cathedral staff and supporters will take on the 100km Camino de Santiago along the Portuguese Way, from Vigo to Santiago. The pilgrimage will be challenging, with their longest day reaching 25km on foot, and deeply reflective — a journey of connection, community, and purpose.

They are walking to raise funds for The Archer Project and The Choir With No Name Sheffield (CWNN). Both charities are closely linked to Sheffield Cathedral: The Archer Project operates from the Cathedral, supporting people experiencing homelessness with essentials, care, and practical support, while the Choir With No Name rehearses at the Cathedral and brings confidence, friendship, and joy to people affected by homelessness and marginalisation.

Dean Abi Thompson, who walked the Camino in 2025, said:
"Initially, I worried I wouldn’t keep up — but the Camino taught me the beauty of slowing down, walking alongside those at the back, and realising that’s okay. This trip is not a race. It’s about connection, reflection, and raising funds for two incredible organisations that embody community and hope."

She added:
"Music unites people of all backgrounds. Having The Choir With No Name in Sheffield has been such a joyful addition to the Cathedral’s music-making. Seeing how both The Archer Project and Choir With No Name create belonging and friendship is truly inspiring."

Tom Daggett, who also walked the Camino previously, said:
"It was a profound journey. I met the most amazing people from around the world, managed to slow down, and found such a strong human connection."

While places to join the walk are now closed, you can still walk alongside them in spirit by donating. Every step they take will help provide practical support, friendship, and hope to people experiencing homelessness in Sheffield.
