Sheffield Cathedral is open and welcomes all those who mourn

The Peace Doves installation will be lit red, floating above us with their gentle messages of peace, love and hope, as the season of remembering begins.

We have a number of events and services to help people who have lost loved ones or who are grieving for our broken world. Grief if a strange and unpredictable thing, and this season we hold closely those who have been bereaved recently and those who continue to grieve for lost loved ones years after their death. As the season continues, we also remember those who have died fighting in wars past and present and we pray for peace.

Jesus said ‘Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.’ All are welcome.

The Very Revd Abi Thompson, Dean of Sheffield

Get Involved in Our Remembrance display

Every year Sheffield Cathedral installs a Remembrance display of poppies, which cascades down the steps of St George’s Chapel into the Nave. This year is no different and we need your help!

We invite the community of Sheffield to get involved by making poppies of any type to be included in the display. Whether they are knitted, crocheted or paper poppies all will form part of the installation.

Please find below the different activities we have here at the Cathedral to make your poppies. Your school or community group can also get in touch to drop off your collection of poppies. We will be installing our Remembrance display on 25th October.
