The Cathedral Choir is seeking to recruit Choral Scholars for the academic year 2026-27. This role is open to all students in full-time education, including those starting at university in September 2026, and are available for all voice parts.
Choral scholars receive a bursary of £2,800 per annum and typically sing three services each week. They may also be required to sing at extra services throughout the year, such as at Christmas and during Holy Week; many of these services also attract extra fees. An additional bursary for singing tuition is provided by the Cathedral alongside further opportunities for professional development tailored to the skillset and needs of each choral scholar.
If you are interested in this role, please fill out the application form below and return to music@sheffield-cathedral.org.uk. The interview process includes a zoom meeting with the Director of Music, and then an audition in the week beginning Monday 29th June which requires two short, contrasting pieces plus some sight-singing.
The closing date for applications is Friday 27th February at 5pm.
The choir also welcomes students wishing to sing on a voluntary basis, and the Director of Music is always happy to hear from people interested in auditioning. Please email music@sheffield-cathedral.org.uk if you are interested in joining as a voluntary singer.
