Choir Chaperone

Sheffield Cathedral is seeking a Choir Chaperone to support its Choristers and its after-school Cathedral Voices programme meeting on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and initially on Sunday mornings.

Our Cathedral Voices after-school programme will train child choristers as young as seven who will sing regularly alongside our professional adult singers, as well as on their own on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Singing is at the heart of our worshipping life and ministry, and our Schools Singing Programme supports excellent classroom-based music teaching as well as after-school choirs. Three of our partner schools are nominated Choir Schools, including: Prince Edward Primary School, Parson Cross CE Primary School, and Porter Croft CE Primary School. Chorister opportunities are also open to musical children drawn from across the region.

As the Cathedral Choir develops, more musical groups will emerge, as part of our desire to train and support children and young people on a ‘toddler to teacher’ pathway – thus inspiring and equipping the next generation of singers, conductors, and teachers who will ultimately be our workforce of the future.

Our Music Director, Tom Daggett, would be delighted to have an informal conversation with anybody who would like to know more before submitting an application.
