Welcome 2026: Thank You for a Wonderful Christmas at Sheffield Cathedral

December at Sheffield Cathedral has been a season of light, music, and festive celebration. From the twinkling illuminations of Light Up Sheffield, which transformed the Cathedral and city landmarks with stunning projections, to the unveiling of Pete McKee’s Nativity, celebrating Sheffield’s communities, our Schools Singing Programme, and the work of the Archer Project, it has been a busy and inspiring end to the year.

Our Candlelit Christmas concert, performed by the wonderful Sheffield Cathedral Choir, filled the building with beautiful, atmospheric music, while the Choir with No Name brought energy and soul to an unforgettable concert. These performances, along with carol services, the Glow Quest family trail, and our much-loved Christmas Tree Festival, welcomed thousands of visitors and created moments of joy, reflection, and community throughout the season.

We want to thank everyone who joined us during this year’s festive period — visitors, congregation members, tourists, performers — for filling the Cathedral with joy, music, and community spirit. A special thanks also goes to our staff and volunteers, whose dedication and care made all of these celebrations possible.

Looking ahead to 2026, the Cathedral is ready for another year of inspiring events, concerts, family activities, and moments of prayer and stillness.

Check out what’s coming up and start planning your visits for the new year.
