My Lenten Discipline

My Lenten discipline this year is to give up not paying enough attention to the world around me.

My intention is to watch, listen and learn something new each day. It may be that I see something new in familiar surroundings, understand more about the people I meet and learn new things about myself. The most important thing though, is to learn more about Jesus Christ.

This picture is one of the new things I have seen; I found it on the stalls in the chancel. Here is a small carving with a big message. These are the symbols of Faith (an anchor), Hope (the cross) and Love (a heart). Seeing this prompted me to read the wonderful chapter about the quality of love as found in 1 Corinthians 13. I was blessed and challenged and am looking forward to discovering more as I look, listen and pay more attention to the world around me.

Whatever is your chosen Lenten discipline may you be blessed, grow closer to Christ and learn more about the world around you.
