Mothers’ Union in the Diocese of Sheffield warmly invites you to join us as we celebrate the work of the  Mothers’ Union’s on the 150th anniversary of the death of our Mary Sumner founder August 9th , 2026

Mothers' Union was established by Mary Sumner in 1876 in Old Alresford, Hampshire, after she realised mothers needed more support and community. Today, the worldwide movement aims to nurture family relationships, support those in need, and fight against poverty and injustice. Sheffield Diocese Mothers’ Union continues to strengthen families and communities through faith-filled outreach and service.

The Eucharist Celebration Service will include prayers and readings, followed by a Diocesan Family Picnic in the grounds of the Cathedral (bring your own picnic).
