About the Concert
Join us for an enchanting evening of classical music performed by some of the UK's finest musicians, all illuminated by the warm glow of candlelight.
The centrepiece of the programme is Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons, one of the most beloved and frequently performed works in the classical repertoire. Across four virtuosic violin concertos, Vivaldi vividly captures the changing seasons, bringing to life birdsong, summer storms, harvest celebrations, barking dogs and icy winter landscapes through music of remarkable imagination and colour.
The programme also features Vaughan Williams’ The Lark Ascending, a treasured masterpiece of English music. Inspired by George Meredith’s poem, the work evokes the image of a skylark soaring high above the countryside, its graceful violin melody offering a moment of beauty, tranquillity and reflection.
Opening the evening is Mozart’s Overture to The Marriage of Figaro, a sparkling and energetic curtain-raiser to one of opera’s greatest comedies. Full of wit, charm and irresistible momentum, it perfectly sets the tone for an evening of musical brilliance.
Whether you are a lifelong classical music enthusiast or discovering these masterpieces for the first time, this concert offers an unforgettable experience for audiences of all ages.
