7:30pm – approximately 9:10pm
Our journey continues in 1932 with Benjamin Britten's vibrant Sinfonietta, before tracing its musical ancestry back to the master of the Baroque, J.S. Bach, and forward to the rhythmic brilliance of Stravinsky.
This programme celebrates music as conversation. Solo instruments emerge from the orchestra, exchange ideas, intertwine melodies and respond to one another, demonstrating how composers across more than three hundred years have continually rediscovered the expressive power of smaller-scale orchestral writing.
