7:30pm – approximately 9:10pm
Our journey begins in 1792 with Haydn's much-loved "Surprise" Symphony, introducing one of music's most enduring ideas: taking a simple tune and transforming it into something extraordinary.
Across the evening, four master composers demonstrate how the art of variation can be witty, lyrical, dazzlingly virtuosic and strikingly modern.
We're delighted to welcome back Tim Horton following his acclaimed performance of Grieg with the orchestra last season.
