Heritage Open Day - Sheffield Shows its Metal

  • Sheffield Cathedral Church Street Sheffield S1 1HA (map)

This tour highlights designer makers and silversmiths represented within the fabric of the cathedral.

As part of the 250th anniversary celebrations of Sheffield Assay Office, the Metalworking tour highlights those represented within the cathedral.

Like many churches, Sheffield Cathedral is a building which has many stories to tell. It tells the story of the Christian faith in Sheffield through the centuries of worship, prayers and remembrance which have taken place within its walls and continue today.

Sheffield for many is the Steel City and this hour-long tour focuses on metalwork contained within the Cathedrals fabric and the stories these objects tell about our city past and present. Hear about Silversmiths’, Cutlers’ and Sculptures’ who have all played a hand in creating the fabric of the building we see today.

There is a maximum of 20 people for this tour and booking is required through the link below. There will only be one opportunity for this tour so don’t miss out!
