50 faces. 50 lives. Your invitation.

In a moment when the Holy Land is so often encountered through breaking news, argument and grief, Sheffield Cathedral and Friends of the Holy Land invite you to begin somewhere different: with a human face.

From Monday 5 to Saturday 17 October, 50 Faces of the Holy Land brings Marcin Mazur’s striking black-and-white portraits into the Cathedral.

The exhibition introduces Israeli and Palestinian people from Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Samaritan and Druze communities. Each portrait asks us to pause before a person rather than a position and to notice dignity, faith, memory and hope.

At 5.30pm on Tuesday 6 October, a special ecumenical Evensong will gather Christians from across Sheffield and the wider community within the Cathedral. Through music, Scripture and prayer, we will hold before God the people of the Holy Land and pray for justice, reconciliation and a lasting peace.
