British art group Oracles have undertaken a project to explore the human soul, the result of which is the exhibition measure, which is at Sheffield Cathedral during November.
Each of the artists has interpreted the theme of measuring the soul in their work, resulting in sculpture, painting, embroidery and performance. Gill Alderson, Michael Borkowshy, Sylvia Cause, Andrea Freeman and Sharon Mossbeck make up the Oracles Group. They are based around Yorkshire and Derbyshire, and work together on various projects and share an interest in contemporary art, death and medicine.
Putting contemporary art into a religious setting was a driving force behind the exhibition, and Sheffield Cathedral is a stunning backdrop, perfectly suited to the spiritual theme.
