The Two Cathedrals' Tour

Explore why Sheffield has two Cathedrals and find out more about Christianity in this exciting school session.

During this session children will be able to find out more about what a Christian church is, what special celebrations take place in it, the key symbols of the Christian faith and the central stories of Christmas and Easter.

The session includes a visit to both the Catholic and Anglican Cathedrals, an organ demonstration, a discovery trail, object handling, and hands-on and crafts activities.

This full-day session (10am-2.30pm) is suitable for KS2 children. It is available on Wednesdays and can be booked now for March-July 2017.

We also have two educational sessions for school visits available on Mondays and Tuesdays. 

Shiny Sheffield Cathedral  

This is a full day session at Sheffield Cathedral meeting the Religious Education Curriculum syllabus Key Stage 2: A1, A3, B1, C1 and C2. 

During the visit pupils will meet a member of the clergy to learn about Christian symbols, vestments and items used is Christian worship. It is an opportunity to discover and explore key Christian beliefs as represented in items and artefacts found in the Cathedral. 

Activities include: Brass rubbing and designing your own stained glass window.

Cost per child £3, adults free of charge.
Pupils and staff will need to bring a packed lunch.


St Michael’s Tour

This session can be a full or half day trip depending on your requirements. The sessions meet the Religious Education Curriculum syllabus Key Stage 1 A1, A3 and C3.

During the visit pupils will have the opportunity to discover the Cathedral’s interior, explore and learn about the holy space and place. The Cathedral is a perfect place for children to experience ‘awe and wonder’. The children will explore and learn the significance of the images of angels found in the cathedral. There will be a treasure trail explaining the stained glass windows and main features of the Cathedral building.

Activities include: designing your own stained glass window and make a golden angel.

Cost per child £3, adults free of charge.
Pupils and staff will need to bring a packed lunch if staying for the full day.
