Sheffield Cathedral Schola Cantorum is a choir designed to give young adult sopranos, particularly (but not exclusively) university undergraduates, an opportunity to sing liturgically within the pattern of Cathedral worship.

Schola Cantorum also sings concerts, at the Cathedral and other venues around the city and region, and broadcasts on BBC Radio 4's Daily Service programme.

They rehearse on Tuesday evenings during term time and sing at least two Wednesday evensongs per term on their own, as well as the Sunday services of Eucharist and Evensong with the Cathedral Songmen once or twice each term. In addition to these regular services, Schola Cantorum sings at various special services throughout the year, such as Ash Wednesday.

Schola Cantorum was started in 2009 by the then-Assistant Director of Music, Anthony Gowing, and has since brought many young people into the Cathedral community. The current director is Joshua Hales, Assistant Director of Music at the Cathedral.

Current membership includes students from the two Sheffield universities, gap-year students and young professionals.
