One of the 1200 golden starlings created by local children and exhibited at Sheffield CathedralFrom the 16th June until the 4th July a flock of 1200 Golden Starlings, are to be exhibited in the nave of the Cathedral. This awe inspiring spectacle is created by over 1,000 Sheffield school children and Art in the Park. Complemented by sounds of real life starlings to give a real sense of seeing a live flock of starlings!

Take part in our competition to spot an actual gold plated starling made by Sheffield Assay Office for the chance for you and your family to win a ticket to the Assay Office where you will be able to see the process of hallmarking and mark identification.

Join us on the 26th and 27th June for the opportunity to have a go at making your very own golden starling made from polymorph and to participate in a bird trail around the Cathedral searching for as many birds as possible within the building.

Carl Hutton, General Manager says “Sheffield Cathedral is really excited about participating in this year’s Children’s festival and hosting the Golden Starlings installation and exhibition.  We hope that as many people as possible will take the time out to see the stunning piece of work in the unique environment of the Cathedral.”


 

Editorial notes

Sheffield Cathedral is collaborating with Art in the Park in association with Sheffield Children’s Festival.

The festival runs from 12th June till 20th July. Sheffield Cathedral is involved from the 16th June-4th July
