The Dean and Chapter of Sheffield Cathedral today issued a final appeal to those occupying Sheffield Cathedral’s churchyard to vacate the site and clear their tents within a week so that the area can be restored to full public use, and the work of the Cathedral continue unimpeded.

Sheffield's Last Laugh Comedy Club, Yorkshire's longest running comedy club is trying out something very new next month. The club, organised by local comedian and radio presenter Toby Foster is to stage its first ever concert in a church. And by church, we mean Sheffield Cathedral.

On Wednesday June 1st Sheffield Cathedral’s Music and Arts Festival will be unveiled by Sir Andrew Motion, Poet Laureate (1999-2009). He will introduce his latest book, Laurels and Donkeys (Clutag Press), a collection of war poems presenting scenes from various conflicts of the 20th and 21st centuries, ranging from the First World War to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

A Sheffield teenager has sung her way to success to be presented with the prestigious BBC Radio 2 Young Choristers Of The Year prize in this special Silver Jubilee anniversary year of the Competition. A chorister from Durham won the prize for the boys category.

Last week Sheffield Cathedral held an event in the West End and 1554 Gallery to launch the switch on of their new website www.sheffieldcathedral.org. The new site incorporates 21st century technology including blogs, video streaming, a virtual tour and opportunities to make online donations and purchases in the online shop.

Sheffield Photographic Society was established in 1864 and is therefore one of the oldest clubs of its type in the world. It is also one of the largest and most thriving photographic societies within the UK, with 120 members who include both enthusiastic amateurs and semi-professional photographers, using mainly digital equipment.
