A Kings and Queens Celebration

On Saturday 11th June, the Cathedral community were delighted to welcome 205 guests and dignitaries to a banquet lunch on the occasion of the Queen’s 90th birthday and in celebration of everything older people do for their communities.

Following the lunch, provided by the Cathedral’s banquets caterer CGC Events, the group was treated to entertainment from the Trappini Trio, the Sheffield Community Gospel Choir and a puppet sketch by Christ Church Gleadless Puppet Ministry. Bishop Peter gave a toast to Her Majesty before the singing of the National Anthem to bring the celebration to an close. Guests left with a white rose as a sign of God's love and a copy of The Servant Queen and the King She Serves.

A massive thank you for inviting us to your Kings & Queens’ event, which was absolutely fantastic. Cecil had a brilliant time and loved sharing his special memories about repairing the stained glass windows in the Cathedral during his working life…I know the Cathedral’s historians and staff were all enthralled by his stories!

Everything was superb: the whole meal, the ambiance and the company. People mixed and chatted, regardless of rank and distinction.

What an occasion in beautiful surroundings. The Cathedral shown off to its best, with the team, as usual, giving of their best. Terrific effort.
