I wonder what you are waiting for this December? Perhaps a particular Christmas celebration or gift, or some good news. Whatever you may be looking forward to, this is undoubtedly a season in which people look ahead.
Looking forward requires clear thinking and usually some sense of direction. This Advent leaders of the world have been looking forwards in many ways. They have been trying to find a pathway to hope and peace in areas of conflict, they have also been trying to establish a vision for the way we continue to use the world's resources and to be good stewards in ways which limit the impact on our climate.
Let us pray that in whatever way we look forward; whatever way we hope and plan, we may know something of God's hope which underpins this great season. God's hope which transforms the world - God's hope revealed in and through the great events of the nativity.
