The Diocese of Sheffield

The Diocese of Sheffield is an area of the country roughly corresponding to South Yorkshire whose parish churches are under the oversight and care of the Bishop of Sheffield.

The Cathedral is its centre of worship. The Bishop of Sheffield has his seat (‘cathedra’) here, and presides at Christmas and Easter services and on other special occasions.

The Diocese has its offices in Rotherham, and further information about Diocesan activities and other churches in the Diocese can be obtained from their website.

The Bishop of Sheffield

The current Bishop of Sheffield is the Right Reverend Dr Steven Croft. He became Bishop in 2009. The Bishop’s role is to have oversight of the Diocese, to offer pastoral care, to give a lead in the development of the vision for the future of the Diocese, and to represent the Church of England in the wider community.
